Meet The Designer: Matthew Bruch
Posted by erica hanks on
Our Meet the Designer for June is the talented and meticulous resort designer Matthew Bruch. Matthew's knowledge of linens and natural fibers mixed with structured tailoring make his collections beautiful, functional and a huge favorite for the SHOWROOM woman year round. We asked Matthew a few questions about himself and his favorite pieces, all available now online and at our Kiawah Pop Up.
1. How did you get into Resort wear?
The way I ended up in Resort wear is a classic tale of being in the right place at the right time. One of my favorite professors was the patternmaker for luxury swimwear brand that was looking for their first intern. I ended up getting the internship and it turned into a full time job after I graduated, solidifying my place in the Resort wear market.
2. Describe your brand's aesthetic...
One of major focuses of the brand's aesthetic has been making classic utilitarianism sexy. The collection is comprised of easy-to-wear vacation staples that can translate to be worn in the city.
3. Your favorite piece from the SHOWROOM/Matthew Bruch edit?
My favorite piece from the collection is the Cropped Safari Shirt. It embodies the essence of the brand, being both tailored and seductive.
4. Best vacation destination?
Hvar, Croatia is one of the best destination vacations. With instagram worthy white washed streets and clear water beaches, it’s the perfect mix of old world charm and a relaxing get-away.
5. What's the perfect workday look that can go into the evening?
Our Bandeau Poplin Crop Top & Button Fly Till Pant are perfect for a day to night look. Pair the look with an oversized blazer for the office, lose the blazer and add a statement earring and strappy heel for going out.
